The Kwai Chung Crematorium temporarily suspends cremation services starting from August 14, 2024 for replacement of the cremators upon its expected service life and other refurbishment works. The construction works are expected to be completed and resume service by the end of 2027.
The refurbishment works is to enhance the facilities of the Kwai Chung Crematorium. During the closure period, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) will release additional cremation sessions at the Cape Collinson, the Wo Hop Shek and the Fu Shan Crematorium to maintain the overall provision of service.
The other FEHD funeral facilities and services adjacent to the Kwai Chung Crematorium, including the columbarium, Garden of Remembrance, abortus cremation facilities and temporary storage service for cremains maintain normal operations and are not affected.
