Applications invited for new niches in Diamond Hill Columbarium
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) will accept applications from next Tuesday (April 14) to May 14 for about 16,800 new standard niches and 1,600 new large niches in its recently completed Diamond Hill Columbarium.
The charge for a standard niche is $2,800, large niche $3,600 and placing of a memorial plaque $90.
Application forms can be obtained from FEHD's New Niche Allocation Office in Diamond Hill Columbarium and Cemeteries and Crematoria (C&C) offices on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon. They are also available through fax or on the department's website (www.fehd.gov.hk).
Applicants can submit the completed application forms, together with copies of the required documents, in person during office hours, or by mail or fax, to the New Niche Allocation Office in Diamond Hill Columbarium. Late applications will not be accepted.
A computer ballot will be conducted on June 12 (Friday) to decide the selection priorities of the applicants. The ballot results will be posted at the C&C offices and FEHD's website.
If applications received are fewer than the niches available, the remaining stock will be open for another round of applications starting May 25 on a first-come-first-served and registration for appointment basis. The public can check the latest availability situation with the C&C offices or by visiting the department's website on May 21. Applications in this round must be submitted to the New Niche Allocation Office in Diamond Hill Columbarium.
