Bookings may be made 20 days before cremation sessions

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (April 8) announced that, in view of the increase in demand for cremation services in recent days, to further facilitate the public to book the FEHD's cremation services and make after-death arrangements, bookings may be made 20 days before cremation sessions, starting from tomorrow (April 9).

A spokesman for the FEHD said, "Members of the public can currently book cremation sessions in each crematorium within 15 days that next follow the application day. To further facilitate the handling of after-death arrangements, the FEHD will make a special arrangement from tomorrow to provide cremation sessions within 20 days from the application day for bookings, until further notice."

To cope with the upsurge in demand for services recently, the FEHD has significantly increased the number of cremation sessions at its crematoria. Following the commencement of services of two new cremators at Wo Hop Shek Crematorium yesterday (April 7), the daily cremation sessions available for bookings can be further increased to over 300.

The FEHD will continue to comply with the performance pledge to let members of the public collect cremated ashes four days after cremation.
