To enhance market cleanliness, the Department has since November 2003 introduced a "Monthly Cleansing Day". During the "Monthly Cleansing Day", all public market stall owners are required to conduct a thorough clean-up of their stalls. Non-compliance with the monthly cleansing requirement constitutes a breach of the tenancy conditions. The tenancy of a stall lessee will be terminated if he/she breaches the tenancy conditions three times in six months.
