Abortus Keeping Services of Private Cemeteries
Apart from public facilities, the following six private cemeteries also provide services for keeping abortuses to take care of the needs of their parents.
- "Garden of Serenity", Tsuen Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery
In January 2019, the Board of Management of the Chinese Permanent Cemeteries (BMCPC) set up the first garden of remembrance for abortuses of less than 24 weeks' gestation in the Tsuen Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery. With 219 burial spaces, the garden provides abortus burial and ash scattering services. Its Chinese name "寧馨園" represents the remembrance of beautiful children.
- "Garden of Serenity", Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery
The BMCPC's second "Garden of Serenity" is situated at the garden zone named "人生月台" in Section 16, Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery. It was commissioned in December 2021 to provide 519 burial spaces.
This garden is thematically designed as a children's park. The hexagonal commemorative plaques look like a honeycomb, symbolising a safe and comfortable home, and the names of abortuses can be engraved on the plaques as an everlasting remembrance. Free memorial cards are also provided for parents to write their words to the abortuses.
- "Angel's Garden", Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Chai Wan
The Angel's Garden located at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Chai Wan is a place for Catholics to keep abortuses of less than 24 weeks' gestation. The garden was commissioned on 24 June 2017, realising the Church's teaching in respecting life. The garden has three round pebble ponds and a streamlined planter for keeping abortuses, as well as a Naming Wall for showing the names of the abortuses as a remembrance. When all phases of works are completed, it can provide 500 keeping spaces in total.
- "小小淨土", Hong Kong Buddhist Cemetery
"小小淨土"located at the Hong Kong Buddhist Cemetery under the Hong Kong Buddhist Association is scheduled to be commissioned in end-2022. It will provide 460 keeping spaces for abortuses of less than 24 weeks' gestation, wishing that those little lives can be buried in a decent way in a peaceful land, and that their parents' pain can be relieved.
- "The Garden of Angels of Tao Fong Shan" , Tao Fong Shan Christian Cemetery
The Garden of Angels of Tao Fong Shan was commissioned on 23 May 2019 for Christians to keep abortuses of less than 24 weeks' gestation. The Garden of Angels inside the cemetery gives the parents a chance to do the last thing for their children, with the good hope of letting the abortuses to rest in peace and bringing relief to their suffering mothers. The garden is located in the centre of the Tao Fong Shan Christian Cemetery and planted with 12 olive trees. It provides 144 keeping spaces for abortuses.
- "Flowers of Paradise", Muslim Cemetery in Happy Valley
The Flowers of Paradise of the Muslim Cemetery in Happy Valley was commissioned on 1 June 2020. There are 120 abortus keeping spaces for use by Muslims.
