12 & 13 January	The Secretary for Food and Health (formerly known as Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food), Dr York Chow, addresses the International Symposium on Food Safety. The symposium draws a huge crowd of audience.
23 January	Speakers introduce the proposed amendments to "Preservatives in Food Regulations" at the public consultation forum.
